Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Guizhou Redshift Deep Space Technology Co., Ltd. for using Deepspace and its related services. Please read them before you start.

This is the English version of the document that applies to the app's release in mainland China, provided for readers of English because the app itself can run in English; it is not a separate version for any other country or region, and where this English text and the Chinese version differ, the Chinese version prevails. Deepspace has not been released yet. These terms describe the current development build and will be reviewed and updated before launch. The updated version on this page will then apply.

Introduction and important notices

Welcome to Deepspace (深空放映 in Chinese, “the app”) and its related services. The app is developed and operated by Guizhou Redshift Deep Space Technology Co., Ltd. (贵州红移深空科技有限公司, “we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us on the use of the app and its related services. This English text is the English version of the document that applies to the app’s release in mainland China. If this English text and the Chinese version differ, the Chinese version prevails.

Please note in particular: read all of these terms carefully, especially the clauses that exclude or limit our liability (usually containing “we are not liable” or “we do not warrant”), the clauses that limit your rights (usually containing “you must not” or “you are not entitled to”), and the clauses on governing law and dispute resolution. Please pay particular attention to the text shown in bold, and start using the app only once you have fully understood and accepted it.

Important notices:

  1. Please read these terms carefully before you start using the app. A minor under 18 should read these terms accompanied by their guardian, and may use the app and its related services only after the guardian has agreed to all of these terms and to the minor’s payment for the app.
  2. On first launch, the app presents these terms and the Privacy Policy. Selecting “Agree” enables online services such as accounts, AI and metadata. If you decline, you can still use your local library and playback while online services remain disabled. You can read and agree again in settings. Before signing in or registering, you must also explicitly check that you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. You may not later object on the ground that you did not read or accept them. Rules and announcements published in the app have the same effect as these terms.
  3. We may revise these terms where necessary and will remind you in an appropriate way; please check back periodically. An App update carrying revised agreements asks for your explicit consent again. If you decline, you can still use your local library and playback while online services remain disabled.
  4. You may supervise whether we provide the services to the published standards during your use, and you may raise comments and suggestions with us at any time.
  5. The conclusion, performance and interpretation of these terms and the resolution of disputes under them are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China.

1. Scope and acceptance

These terms apply to the app and its related account, membership, AI, metadata and diagnostic services, and take effect alongside the Privacy Policy. Where these terms and the Privacy Policy differ on the same matter, the document that specifically addresses that matter prevails.

2. Service content and license

  • The app is a video player and media library tool running on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro. It helps you connect your own media sources, organize your library and play back your media. The app provides no film or television content, and does not search for film sources, aggregate resource sites, search magnet links or search cloud-drive resources.
  • On your device we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use the app under these terms.
  • Account, membership, AI and metadata features depend on network services. We may adjust, add or discontinue some features as the product develops.
  • Third-party open-source components included in the app are licensed under their own licenses, and these terms do not limit the rights you have under those licenses.

3. Accounts

  • Your local library and playback need no account. You can sign in with a mainland China phone number, WeChat or Apple.
  • At present each sign-in method corresponds to a separate account. Always sign in with the same method to reach the same account’s membership and synced data on different devices.
  • Account ownership: the account is owned by us, and you hold only a right of use as the original registrant. The account may be used only by the original registrant, and you may not give, lend, rent out, transfer, sell or bequeath it, or otherwise permit anyone else to use it.
  • Consequences of breach: if we find any of the above, or reasonably believe that the current user of an account is not the original registrant, we may restrict, suspend or terminate the use of that account or reclaim it; any loss arising is borne by you.
  • Please keep your device and sign-in method safe. Actions taken through your sign-in method are treated as your own, and losses caused by your failure to keep them safe are borne by you.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app. After deletion, the account’s related data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy and cannot be recovered; your local library on the device is kept.

4. Your rules of use

  • You may use the app only to play media you own or are entitled to use, and you are responsible for the legality of the sources you connect and their content. Disputes and liability arising from the sources you connect or the content you distribute are borne by you.
  • You must not use the app to obtain, distribute or play infringing, unlawful or harmful content, must not interfere with or damage our services, and must not use SMS verification, the AI services or other services in automated or otherwise abnormal ways.
  • You must not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where an open-source license expressly permits it, and must not remove any rights notices, marks or watermarks in the app.
  • When using AI features you must not enter unlawful content, ask the AI to generate unlawful content, use the AI features to infringe the lawful rights of others, or circumvent our content safety measures by technical means.
  • Anyone under 14 should not register an account or use the AI features; where a minor uses the app with their guardian’s consent and guidance, the account should be registered by the guardian. Payment rules are in section 5.

5. Membership and payment

  • The app offers two kinds of benefits: Standard membership and Smart membership. The exact tiers, prices, billing periods and renewal rules are those shown on the purchase page.
  • Subscriptions are free during testing. Memberships can be upgraded; downgrades are not supported at present.
  • Smart membership provides a usage allowance per billing period; the rules for allowances and reset vouchers are those explained in the app.
  • After public release, for memberships bought through the App Store, payment, renewal and cancellation are handled under Apple’s rules, and you may also apply to Apple for a refund under Apple’s rules; automatic renewal is managed by Apple, and you can cancel at any time in your system settings under subscriptions. We are not responsible for Apple’s billing and refund decisions, but we will help you troubleshoot. Refunds of amounts paid for top-up credits are likewise handled through Apple.
  • Payment by minors: the app does not provide paid services to minors, and minors must not top up or buy memberships, credits or other paid benefits themselves. Where a minor needs a paid service, it should be bought on their behalf by their guardian, who is responsible for managing the account and the payment method.
  • Top-up credits and prepayment: top-up credits are prepaid in nature, and their unit price, quantity and use are those shown on the purchase page and explained in the app. Top-ups, renewals and refunds are all handled through the App Store: if we fail to provide the corresponding service as agreed, you may require us to perform the agreement; as for refunds of amounts already paid, please apply to Apple under Apple’s rules, and Apple decides. If we decide to cease operating or to terminate the service, we will tell you in advance and tell you how to apply to Apple for a refund.
  • Virtual benefits (including credits and allowances) are valid only within the app and cannot be withdrawn, transferred or exchanged for cash, unless laws and regulations provide otherwise.
  • Abusive refunds and irregular payments: we respect your right to request refunds in accordance with the law, but the following are abusive refunds or irregular payments and breach these terms:
    • repeatedly buying and then requesting refunds within a short period, or using refunds in place of canceling a subscription normally;
    • requesting refunds on fabricated or forged grounds, or continuing to use the paid benefits after a refund or chargeback;
    • topping up or paying through channels other than Apple, or using a payment instrument of unknown origin or one you are not entitled to use;
    • obtaining improper benefit through refunds, chargebacks or disputed transactions, or organizing, instigating or assisting others to do so.
  • Our measures: for accounts that do any of the above, we may, depending on the circumstances, take one or more of the following measures, and will notify you in a reasonable way afterwards:
    • asking you to explain, or issuing a warning;
    • restricting or withdrawing your eligibility to buy paid benefits;
    • recovering membership benefits, credits and allowances obtained irregularly;
    • freezing the account’s payment-related functions, or freezing, suspending or terminating all or part of the account’s services;
    • reporting the irregular payment and the relevant evidence to Apple or the payment institution;
    • requiring you to compensate us for the losses we suffer, and reserving the right to pursue liability in accordance with the law.
  • Circumventing measures: for other accounts registered or used to circumvent the above measures, we may take the same measures.
  • Consequences of freezing or termination: where an account is frozen or terminated for abusive refunds or irregular payments, the corresponding paid benefits end at the same time, we may decline to refund fees already collected, and where the benefits you obtained exceed what you actually paid for, we may recover the excess.
  • Objections: if you believe we have taken measures against your account in error, you can contact us using the details in section 15 and we will reply after verifying your identity.

6. AI features and the labeling of generated content

  • AI assistant replies and AI subtitle translations in the app are AI-generated content and may be inaccurate or incomplete; they are for reference only and should not be your only basis for decisions.
  • We label them as follows:
    • Explicit labeling: each AI assistant reply is marked “AI generated”; AI subtitles are marked in the subtitle list and the subtitle panel as generated by the app’s AI; other forms of generated content carry a prominent notice in the content or interface appropriate to their form.
    • Implicit labeling: where we provide functions to download, copy or export generated content, we will ensure the file metadata includes the generated-content attribute, the service provider’s name or code, and a content number. At present AI-generated subtitles are used only for playback inside the app and are not offered for export.
  • Please read and understand these labeling requirements: the labels indicate that content is AI-generated; they do not mean the content has been reviewed by a person or is accurate.
  • No organization or individual may maliciously delete, tamper with, forge or conceal these labels, or provide tools or services for others to do so.
  • We carry out safety review of generated content in accordance with laws and regulations. Where unlawful content is found, we will stop generating or transmitting it, remove the content, keep records and report to the competent authorities as required by law, and may take measures against your account such as warnings, restricting functions, or suspending or terminating the service.
  • We may publish in the app the model names and filing or launch numbers of the generative AI services we use.

7. Third-party services and open-source software

  • Sign-in, AI and metadata features use third-party services, which are also governed by their own terms. Please also read and comply with those third parties’ terms of service and privacy policies (see section 3 of the Privacy Policy).
  • The AI features are completed by our servers calling third-party large-model services, currently Alibaba Cloud Bailian (Qwen) and DeepSeek.
  • Film and TV metadata in the app comes from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • The app includes components distributed under open-source licenses (including LGPL and MPL). For components distributed under LGPL, you may carry out the reverse engineering necessary to debug your modifications to them. The relevant license texts are in the app’s third-party software notices.

8. Intellectual property

The app’s software, interface design, name, trademarks and marks belong to us or the relevant rights holders. Except as otherwise provided by open-source licenses, you may not copy, modify, rent, sell or redistribute the app without written permission. All rights not expressly granted to you under these terms are reserved by us.

9. Changes, interruptions and termination of the service

  • We may adjust, add or discontinue some features in line with product plans, and may suspend or interrupt the service for maintenance, upgrades, faults, interruptions of third-party services or force majeure.
  • If we terminate the app or the related services, we will notify you in advance as required by law and handle your personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.
  • You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

  • The app is provided as is. We try our best to keep the service stable and reliable, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, nor do we warrant the availability or accuracy of third-party models or metadata services.
  • Where problems arise from your media sources, network environment, device or third-party services, we will do our best to help, but we are not liable for the resulting losses.
  • To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or punitive losses arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app.
  • The app provides no film or television content; the content you play through the app is provided or authorized by you. Any dispute arising from that content is for you to resolve and bear.

11. Handling of breaches

If you breach these terms or any law or regulation, we may, depending on the circumstances, take measures such as warnings, restricting functions, or suspending or terminating all or part of the services provided to you, and may require you to compensate for the losses caused to us or to third parties; where a suspected criminal offense is involved, we will report it to the competent authorities in accordance with the law.

12. Notices and service

Notices we send you may be delivered through in-app announcements, in-app messages, dialogs or the contact details you provided at registration (such as a phone number or email address). Such notices are taken to be served on the day they are sent. Please make sure the contact details you provide are accurate, valid and kept up to date.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China (which, for the purposes of these terms, exclude the laws of the Hong Kong SAR, the Macao SAR and the Taiwan region). These terms are concluded in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Disputes arising from these terms should first be resolved through friendly negotiation; if negotiation fails, either party may bring proceedings before the people’s court with jurisdiction at the place where these terms were concluded.

14. Miscellaneous

  • If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts remain in effect.
  • The headings of the sections are for ease of reading only and do not affect the interpretation of the clauses.
  • These terms and the Privacy Policy together form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the app.
